Chapter 15: The Raid
256 words
Kendra Mosley didn't just knock; she brought a battering ram in the form of an emergency court order. Armed with the unencrypted video Sophie had unlocked, Kendra had convinced a judge that Thorne was a flight risk and a danger to the public.
Elena sat in the back of a patrol car, not as a prisoner, but as a witness. The red and blue lights strobed against the pristine white facade of Thorne’s clinic.
" FDA violations, illegal medical supplies... take it all!" Kendra shouted, directing officers like the prosecutor she used to be.
Inside, chaos reigned. Officers carried out boxes of servers. Thorne was in the lobby, red-faced, screaming at a sergeant. He wasn't smiling now.
"You can't do this! I am a pillar of this community!" Thorne roared, shredding documents in his hands even as they cuffed him.
"Dr. Thorne," an officer said, pulling a thick ledger from a hidden compartment behind the reception desk. "We found the import logs. Industrial grade silicone from the black market?"
Thorne went pale. The silicone that had caused the necrosis in Elena's face.
Elena stepped out of the car. She walked up the clinic steps, past the man who had called her a monster. Thorne looked at her, his eyes dead and cold, trapped like a rat.
"It's over, Marcus," Elena said. She didn't hide her face. She let the strobe lights hit every scar.
"This isn't over," he hissed as they shoved him into a cruiser. "My lawyers will bury you. See you in court."
