It was agonizingly slow. The building’s outdated wifi was struggling under the storm.

A shadow fell over her. Elena looked up. Marcus stood there, water dripping from his ruined blonde hair, his face twisted into a mask of pure hate.
" You little rat," he spat.
He didn't call for security. He reached down, grabbing a fistful of her hair. Elena screamed as he yanked her up. An assault and battery lawyer would love this, but Elena only cared about the screen.

"What are you doing?" Marcus glanced at the tablet. His eyes widened when he saw the bank logo. Realization dawned. "No!"
He threw her.
Elena flew backward, crashing into a side table. A vase shattered against her shoulder. The pain was blinding, a flare of trauma recovery waiting to happen. The tablet skitted across the wet marble floor, sliding away from her.
She gasped for air, trying to crawl toward it.

Marcus marched toward the device. "I own this building! I own you!"
He reached the tablet before she did. He loomed over the glowing screen.

Elena watched, helpless, from the floor. "It's over, Marcus," she wheezed.
"It is," he sneered. He raised his heavy leather shoe over the fragile glass screen.
